We’re celebrating the publication of Rachel Eliza Griffith’s newest book of poems, Lighting the Shadow from Four Way Press. Rachel is one of the most dynamic and gifted poets writing today, and we are thrilled at all the attention she’sgenerating! As a special treat, Rachel has invited LaShonda Barnett, author of the newly released historical novel, Jam on the Vine, which Publishers Weekly has called “wonderfully vibrant” and the spectacular young trumpeter, Keyon Harrold. A protégé of Wynton Marsalis, Harrold‘s technique has been compared stylistically to Lee Morgan and Freddie Hubbard. What I know for sure is that when he played with DeeDee Bridgewater at our fundraiser at MIST last month, he (they) brought the house down!

As usual, we’re offering you an exceptional afternoon of extraordinarily talented artists in an intimate, historic setting with a culturally-minded crowd, and our usual phenomenal cuisine. You definitely want to be here. $25 includes a copy of Lighting the Shadow, delicious food and drink.
